Caleb Buckley Ed.D.
Golden Valley Charter Schools, Folsom, CA
Caleb Buckley was born in Spring Valley, NY in 1971. He attended Marin Waldorf School and grew up mostly in San Francisco, attending San Francisco State University. He earned degrees in German Literature and Political Science before moving to Austin, Texas, to work on political campaigns. While in Austin, he formed a relationship with the Austin Waldorf School and became their founding high school teacher in 1996. He completed his Waldorf Training through the Center for Anthroposophy in New Hampshire in the summers. Eventually, after the birth of his son, Caleb found his way back to California and became the administrator for the Yuba River Charter School in 2004. After a decade in the foothills, Caleb did a two-year term as Administrative Director of the San Francisco Waldorf School. Caleb earned his doctorate in Education from UC Davis and is affectionately known at home by his four children as “Doctor Buckley.”
Currently, Dr. Buckley is the Executive Director of Golden Valley Charter Schools. As a side hobby, he is an avid gardener and raises ducks, chickens, and golden retrievers when he is not in his kayak. He also runs a non-profit travel baseball team and is known as “coach” to 10-year-old boys. Caleb can also be seen at various Waldorf schools and non-profits as a professional auctioneer. This year, he will be King of the Medieval Games in Nevada City, a role which will test his humility as he attempts to gain the attention of 300 sixth graders covered in mud.
